So after a while away from exploring I thought I'd ease back in with a look at the care homes in Westgate. Shock horror - All boarded up with hoarding up at street level - even round the back!
Plan B - Westcliff House which I've looked at a dozen times without finding an "easy" way in...
It was previously an RNIB care home offering residential and day provisions for learners 16-25 years old. It was established in 1978 and was re-located in late 2008 to early 2009. Planning was given in late 2009 for "alterations and refurbishment". I've not been able to find any more history than this however if the rest of Sea Road is to go by, I'd guess that it was previously a sea-side retreat for the topping London folk that did so like to take the sea air.
As you can see, the place is pretty gutted - some of the basement area has been converted into self contained living areas. Apologies for the lack of pics but I managed to lose my tripod!
On with the pics:
Kitchen
Main ground floor area
Biccies
Worrying discovery
Presentation room
Hallway of rear block
Accommodation kitchen
Dumb waiter
Hammond
Basement junk
After this point my tripod ran away so my pics are ultra blurry which is a shame as I'm going to have to go back to re-do them!
Thanks for looking!
