This is something I’ve wondered about visiting since they started appearing a few years ago and finally got around to doing this weekend.

Frosty stuck a post up about these a while back so I’m not going to try and better his history!

Visiting under the cover of daylight I had a look at the knackered building near the terminal, wondered about the planes and had a poke about in the bunker before boarding the dinky cargo plane followed by the passenger 747.

Due to the unspeakable cold, the majority of my shots were more of a wobbly mess than usual and my camera batteries only did a couple of shots between warming - hence the lack of pics!

This was a quality explore and although it took me a while to find a way in to the 747 it was awesome to be Captain Fro in the cockpit for a couple of minutes!

On with the pics:

Well that’s that, it was really different to my usual stuff and tootling about inside the aircraft was really good and quite eerie.

Apologies for the lack of pics but I was so cold by the time I’d got out of the bunker all I could think about was getting to the pub for a nice hot chocolate!

Thanks for looking!

nice one dude, manston is fun but can be a little dodgy when walking round airport grounds not knowing if you will be spotted or not. Its all down to luck. The little bunker as you call it is a battle command headquarters. These were at every airport used by the RAF during the second world war. Bit disapointing when you get inside and see how small it is but a nice little one none the less.
