Subject: Report - Fullers Earth Works - May 2010 Tue May 11, 2010 11:41 am
After arranging an explore with Frosty and maniac whichc didn’t happen, I decided to take a drive over to this place for a little look. Nice easy explore with lots to see and climb. This is my idea of a big kids climbing frame and we spent hours there lol. Frosty gave maniac a kick and got him up and he wasn’t disapointed.
Fullers Earth Union Ltd was incorporated on 21 March 1890 amalgamating a number of quarries in Surrey and near Bath, Somerset. The Surrey works included Cockley Works, Park Works and Copyhold Works, Nutfield, and Chertfield Works and Shambles Works, Redhill. The offices of the company were based at Patteson Court, Redhill.
In 1954 Fullers' Earth Union Ltd joined the Laporte Group. There were 780 employees at Redhill at that time.
Was worth a visit but could see the place had seriously deteriorated since previous reports. Some items have gone and some have fallen apart due to the fact this is so open to the elements but in my opinion it is well worth a visit and a lot bigger than I had pictured…
