I saw this on the way to Lillesden and had to pop in for a shufti!
Originally known as Babies Castle it was opened in 1886 under the care of Dr Banardo as a care home for small children and babies. This home was mostly for the care of boys as Lillesden catered for the girls.
Babies Castle closed in 1965 and was renamed as Hawkhurst Castle and converted for the care of the elderly.
The site was sold by Kent County Council in 2005 and the site was discontinued finally in 2008.
As you can see, the place is pretty overgrown and is suffereing major rot as a result of water damage. Not quite as bad a Lillesden but not far off!

Id heard of this but didnt spot it when i went to lillesdon good stuff there Mr Fro
