Subject: Report – Ramsgate marina underground changing rooms complex – March 2010 Fri Apr 30, 2010 3:49 am
The Ramsgate Marina Bathing Pool was first opened in 1935 and come to a close an amazing 50years later. This one of the largest outdoor bathing areas in the UK and was a huge attraction for visitors to Ramsgate. The marina swimming pool is now nothing more than a large bleak car park which the council are trying to sell off for its development properties. After years of stories being told to me by the locals of Ramsgate I really wanted to find the underground structures that were owned by the marina pool for its duration. These included changing rooms, shower rooms, locker rooms and more. I had been down there on many occasions looking for a way in but had no luck. I was told that this underground complex was filled in when the car park was built but didn’t believe it. Whilst out with Fortknox0 and frosty along with a couple of friends we managed to find an entry point into the underground complex. Some parts are very dangerous due to the council’s poor attempt at back filling the place. The air was quite fresh and the place was a lot larger than expected although it would have been nice to see some more original features.
And now for my pictures...
