I think it's fair to say that most people are familiar with Summerlands so I'll keep the history brief-ish...

In a previous incarnation the main body of the site was a boys school called Doone House which was requisitioned by the Air Ministry during the war as digs for those jolly good chaps in the RAF. Following decomissioning, the school remained unclaimed by the previous owners so it was used as a Royal British Legion home. It since served in different educational roles and most recently as a BUPA care home. Site closure was 2006 although paperwork can be found on the premises dated after this time.

I've reported this place previously elsewhere and since my last visit at the beginning of the year the building has suffered further water and pidgeon damage and the fungus is unreal. Oh, and some anus has left a tap running in the basement so it's flooded with 8" water so take wellies if you want to check it out.

On with the pics!

All in all an enjoyable explore and a nice change from underground stuff.

Cheers for looking!

All the electrics are switched off at the distribution board and I was a bit wet after squelching through all sorts of sodden nastiness. Shocked

the condition of this place has gone down the pan rapidly since the original report by myself, frosty and knox. Its a shame to see it in this state as it was mint before and all electrics still on. Some nice pictures though and good to see that there are still some nice features in place. Nice report and photos there dude. Thanks for sharing pirat
